postheadericon The Old Stables – Aveton Gifford

Court Barton is situated in the village of Aveton Gifford adjacent to St. Andrews Church which dates from the 12th century. The 16th Century stone built owner's farmhouse looks down the valley to the Avon estuary and is set within some 8 acres of garden with a duck pond, fields and paddock, all of which is available for guests to enjoy. There are also a number of footpaths and bridle paths surrounding the property. The owners have two ponies (Twinkle and Mickey Mouse), as well as four ducks, a cockerel and several chickens (who lay lovely free range eggs!), and two friendly guinea pigs (Tuffers and Ginger). Aveton Gifford lies within the Avon Valley in the heart of the South Hams and is an ideal base to explore South Devon. The village boasts a friendly pub with restaurant and pool table. Bar meals are also offered and children are very welcome (www.the-fishermansrest.co.uk) Launching access for boats is available on the river Avon which meanders out to Bantham beach and the sea beyond. Behind the main farmhouse a 100 year old stone barn has been converted into three very comfortable holiday cottages, The Old Stables, The Dairy and The Grain Store.
